Entwicklung eines Systems zur automatischen Zeichnungserkennung

Project No. 184

Abstract:
In mechanical engineering, there is a large number of conventionally created drawings whose conversion to CAD systems is a prerequisite for the future standardized management and use of engineering data in industry. Such electronic archiving is desirable with regard to liability and patent law issues, as there are no signs of ageing as with conventional archiving on paper. At the same time, a considerable percentage of drawings are still created using first-generation CAD systems. These CAD systems are not able to provide a parametric CAD model and only offer very limited options for reflecting semantic information. However, these modeling options are required, for example, for the efficient integration of design and calculation or for variant design. The subject of the research project is a method that automatically interprets and semantically stores computer-internal data models based on purely geometric information and using dimension entries, so that the result of the transformation is a parametric data model. After transformation of the vectorized data into the internal database of the developed recognition system, the first reconstruction steps of the geometry are carried out in a segmentation module, which are a prerequisite for further interpretation of the drawing. The separation of shape and auxiliary geometry is carried out using a syntactic analysis procedure for dimension entries. Based on this dimension recognition, the shape geometry can be parameterized. An adaptive text recognition module enables the information from the title block to be made available for the management of the drawings on the one hand, and the dimensions required for geometry correction to be interpreted directly on the other. The transfer of the analysis results to the target CAD system saves the time-consuming manual conversion of the drawing and allows the user to work just as efficiently with the converted drawing as with a drawing created on the CAD system.
