The overarching aim of the Cranes Cluster is to create a uniform understanding of the definitions in ISO 15143. Some of the parameters in the ISO standard are not sufficiently specific. This creates a scope for interpretation that allows different definitions on the part of the OEMs and thus causes corresponding isolated solutions (data silos) on the part of the users.

This makes it very difficult or even impossible for machine users to make meaningful use of the data, compare it across manufacturers and link the machine condition data to internal systems and processes.

In order to increase the usability and possible applications of the data, the parameters must be clearly defined in detail together with all parties involved, from the manufacturer and service provider to the end user.

This should create clear added value for the user in the machine condition data defined in ISO 15143-3. Manufacturers benefit from the possibility of a targeted and manufacturer-independent definition. This creates standards and avoids isolated solutions and individual interpretations.

For a clear definition, all 20 parameters of ISO 15143-3 were analyzed separately in the cluster and a common interpretation was established.
