European Mobile Crane Manufacturers organized as FEM have decided to issue this guideline
as a general information and good practice for all mobile crane users.
Mobile cranes are designed to lift loads; in exceptional cases, mobile cranes may also be used
for pile driving/extraction.
Applications like pile driving when using mobile cranes e.g. to install or extract piles or sheet pile
walls may present risks, due to a number of reasons, including unintended use, incorrect load
indication and excessive fatigue. It is important to well distinguish pile driving and pile extraction
and understand how mobile cranes are designed and what are the possible influence of the
additional vibrations on the crane.
