Remote-Service-Contract

The innovative strength of European mechanical and plant engineering today extends far beyond the product itself. Digital and service-oriented services are becoming increasingly important and have become an integral part of modern value creation models. In particular, so-called remote services – such as remote maintenance, condition monitoring and digital support – make a significant contribution to increasing efficiency, availability and customer satisfaction.

There are hardly any detailed templates available in literature. Against this background, the members of the VDMA, together with representatives from the legal profession and academia, have developed a non-binding template for remote service contracts. This is to be understood as a practical guide and structured starting point for individual contract design. The individual product and service portfolio must constantly be kept in mind when making individual adjustments. In addition, the commentary on the individual regulatory proposals offers valuable information for gaining a better understanding of the interactions between the relevant legal frameworks and developing appropriate solutions tailored to the respective application.
