European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group

Die European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG) wurde 1989 als gemeinnütziger Zusammenschluss von Anlagenherstellern, Lebensmittelproduzenten, Zulieferern der Lebensmittelindustrie, Forschungsinstituten und Universitäten, Gesundheitsbehörden und Regierungsorganisationen gegründet.
Das Hauptziel der EHEDG ist die Förderung von sicheren Lebensmitteln durch die Verbesserung von Hygienic Engineering und Design in allen Bereichen der Lebensmittelherstellung.
Die EHEDG unterstützt aktiv die europäische Gesetzgebung, die verlangt, dass die Handhabung, Zubereitung, Verarbeitung und Verpackung von Lebensmitteln hygienisch mit hygienischen Maschinen und in hygienischen Räumen gemäß der Lebensmittelhygieneverordnung, der Maschinenrichtlinie und der Richtlinie über Materialien mit Lebensmittelkontakt erfolgt (siehe EG-Richtlinie 2006/42/EG für Maschinen, EN 1672-2 und EN ISO 14159 über Hygieneanforderungen an die Gestaltung von Maschinen).
Gerätehersteller und -anwender sind für die Umsetzung dieser Anforderungen verantwortlich und die EHEDG gibt ihnen Hinweise zu den wesentlichen Hygienic Design Standards in Übereinstimmung mit der nationalen und internationalen Gesetzgebung.
Die EHEDG-Mission ist definiert als: "Die EHEDG ermöglicht eine sichere Lebensmittelproduktion, indem sie als Autorität für Hygienic Engineering und Design Orientierung bietet".
